What does this mean in terms of quality, durability and life ?

Good public lighting blends into the background providing high quality uninterrupted light uniformly across the whole target area. This is where a good IK impact rating comes in, such a rating is derived by actuality testing the lights exposing them to impact from materials and airborne debris carried by high winds and hitting the lights. Our lights have a proven IK08 rating, that means they can withstand a 5 Joule direct impact, this is equivalent to the impact of a 1.7kg mass fully striking the lights from 300mm above the light or PV panel encasement surface.
