What does this mean in terms of quality, durability and life ?

Good public lighting blends into the background providing high quality uninterrupted light uniformly across the whole target area. This means it is not acceptable to have individual lights failing causing dark spots or the whole lighting scheme failing due to power outages or shared component failure. The lights must stand tall, stand strong and do their job in all weathers, all conditions for years and years. This is where a good IK impact rating comes in, such a rating is derived by actuality testing the lights exposing them to impact from materials and airborne debris carried by high winds and hitting the lights. Our lights have a proven IK08 rating, that means they can withstand a 5 Joule direct impact, this is equivalent to the impact of a 1.7kg mass fully striking the lights from 300mm above the light or PV panel encasement surface.

That is why we give our solar lighting products a 10-year warranty because they are tough and can withstand everything the weather throws at them.

Pictured is our model AE3C solar light. This is a split version where the PV panel and LED light are physically separate but connected by two cables inside the pole; PIR cable to connect the PIR to the controller and the power cable from the controller and battery set to the light. The advantage of a split configuration is the PV panel can be oriented separately from the light to optimise its position relative to the sun as it moves through the day.

AE3C lights are beautifully engineered, they look really nice, the light and PV panel encasement are IP66 rated for water jet and dust ingress and IK08 impact rated against airborne debris, and sealed with anti-tamper stainless steel torx screws. PV panels are available in 60W and 90W power ratings with options for 20W, 30W and 40W lights. Depending on the light and panel power combination we derive a typical 16 hours of full power light on a single charge which is never needed but good to know.
